challenges

Melissa was in town this past weekend. I got to see her and the guy that she has been seeing, but there was another guy too. She had talked to Chris, a guy she dated while in college, and found out that he was going to be in town too. A little backgound – when they dated, Melissa’s mother was still alive and very against her dating ANYONE. Maybe she wanted her to focus on school. Maybe she didn’t want to lose her only daughter. Other than those guesses, there was never any reason given for this. When she dated Chris, her mother made things very difficult for both of them. Anyways, we were talking about this with him…

Me: Chris, you had to put up with alot while dating Melissa. Was it just the challenge, or was there anything else?

Chris: Well, some people climb Mt. Everest….

Me: And others date Melissa.

true/false

Assumptions:

The bridal store won’t be crowded because everyone will be doing Christmas shopping at the other stores. – TRUE

It won’t take long to get in and out of the bridal store. – FALSE

I spent more time driving through the parking lot than I did in the store. All I need is some dyeable shoes. They didn’t even have any that were cute. Nothing worth trying on. A totally wasted trip among the Christmas shoppers. I guess it is going to be safer to hit the stores that aren’t surrounded with places that would have holiday desirables.

rest in peace

Vernon passed away early this morning. He was just so sick that I guess his little body just gave out. I am going to miss him so much. My only comfort right now is knowing that eight years ago, when I found him, he would not have lived if I had not taken him that day and nursed him back to health. This was my first pet. I never had any before him. I believe that he spent the best years of his life with me and the others. I loved him so much and I believe that he knew that.

big white still sick

I just heard back from the vet and the big white cat is not going to come home today. I was hoping that he would. I miss him. He is the first pet I have ever had. You never realize how attached you are to your pets until they get sick and you are under pressure as to what to do. I thought for awhile he was going to come out of this on his own, but I was way off base with that assumption.

It is expensive, but he is going to recover. There were no signs of cancer, tumors or things that would have spelled the end for him. Just a really bad case of feline hepatic lipidosis and and enlarged gall bladder, which may have been the reason all this started. He now has a stomach tube and for awhile, will need to be fed as many as six small meals a day.

Hopefully he will be home tomorrow.

weekend update

Saw “Master and Commander” over the weekend. Very long movie. Everyone liked it except Stacy. I need to see the new “Matrix” movie but I have already been told that I need to see the second one first.

The big white cat is sick again. Big time sick – only weighed 10 lbs., not eating, laying around alot, not able to do a number two, etc. He has been so sick that the vet took him home with her the past two nights to keep an eye on him. The first night he managed to rip out the line that was giving him fluids to re-hydrate him. She said that he got blood every where and just looked at her as if to say “What?” Thet are having to force feed him too. I may have to do this too when he comes home.

htaccess

Ever heard of the .htaccess file? I hadn’t until last week. If I can figure it out it looks like it is going to be a useful thing for the site that I am working on.

Learning is good. :)

a little run in

I talked to my sister today and found out that the old boyfriend that I dated for almost 3 years, and quit talking to me because his new girlfriend felt threatened, is now married to her and has been for about a year now. My sister and her fiance ran into them at church.

She said that they talked and he seemed a little uncomfortable with the whole situation. She also said that his wife did not seem very nice. Regardless, I hope they are happy and always wish him the best.

He also informed my sister that his sister Tracy has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease and will be starting chemotherapy soon. I am still trying to digest that. She has a daughter that is probably about 5 or 6. I think she is married now too. She has already been through so much in her life and now will deal with this. She will do good. I know it.

note to self

Next time I get one of those jury summons, if I am still a student (to any degree) check that box, mail it in and be done with it. I got there this morning and quickly filled in the info before handing it over the woman who was checking people in. For occupation, I put “student.” She saw that and said that I could go if I wanted – just check the excemption box, sign the bottom and leave – or I could stay. The only reason I went was because I had not filled the thing out and mailed it in, and the aforementioned time that I did not go at all. Thinking about it later, the last check of my drivers license would have found that and also they would probably only be concerned with the postmark date (if I just mailed it today).

I paid $7 to park my car all of 30 minutes (at the most). I am also aware of the whole civic duty thing. Screw that. I hate jury duty.

On my way out, I was walking behind some of those poor souls who were getting to go to JP court (in other words, drive back in the same direction they just came from). Someone was telling them that they were lucky and might get out early. Lies… all lies.
