a buyer?

There is an actual live, walking, breathing human being that is interested in buying my old car. I am in shock and keeping my fingers crossed.

nice temperatures

The weather here has been unusually pleasant. High temperatures in the 80′s which is strange to have in Texas in July. Anyone who has lived here in the summer is accustomed to having temperatures in the mid to high 90′s and up for pretty much the whole summer. I am enjoying this change, although it is causing my allergies to react and that is annoying.

I am off to crap-hole tonight to do the last of the cleaning and things needed there. I need to get this finished as I have scheduled the power to be disconnected on Friday. Vaccum cleaners and carpet cleaning machines don’t run very well without electricity.

bad tipper

I have stayed away from political commenting but today I was reading on Say Anything and happened upon an article about John Kerry being a bad tipper. I went to the source site and checked it out for myself. I have waited tables. It is hard work. I feel tor the people that do it. For those of you that don’t tip (or leave bad tips for) your waiter/waitress there is a special place in hell for you.

missed it

Crap. There was a screening of Garden State last night at the Magnolia and I missed it. I have been waiting for this move since I saw the trailer. If the song that plays in the trailer is any indication of what the sound track will be like it is going to be awesome. I find all of this out this morning when I hear Zach Braff on the radio (KDGE). He even has a blog.

I still can’t believe I missed it. Ugh.

I am getting past the new apartment limbo. I have been having feelings like the place I am in now is not for real, not my home, but rather my place in crap-hole is home. These feelings are starting to fade and I am seeing the new place as my home now. There are some differences between this place and the other places that I have lived (both Dallas and crap-hole). I have never been in a complex this big. They have been small compared to this. Also, both were privately held (one was a condo and the other was just small and the owner was around all the time) where as this one has an actual property/management company. Also, the new place has a real pool with people hanging out at it on the weekends. This may have been the case at the place in Dallas I lived at but I was not close enough to the pool to notice, and when I did see people there they were a good bit older than I was at the time and I wasn’t too comfortable socializing with them. There are also some nice looking people (guys) living in my complex. I have seen them only in passing but this is also new for me. Every where else, the guys have been either way too young or just not my type.

This weekend it is going to be cleaning in crap-hole since I didn’t do it last weekend. Stacy talked me into seeing Napoleon Dynamite and it was great! If you have the chance to go see it I would definitely recommend it. It kept from needed work but it was good fun.

Charles is taking all of the boxes off my hands and I will be glad to see them go. Now if I can just talk someone at the Addison Health Club into signing me up without the drivers license (I haven’t gotten it changed yet) we will be in good shape.

gathering thoughts

So much has been happening lately. Much that I haven’t written about, mostly because I choose not to. The rest is inspiration that has been brought on by the things I am not writing about. Things that have happened, things that I have read have dredged up thoughts that I have not been able to put in order yet.

On the lighter side, it looks like the connection issue I was having had to do with the router. So far I have been fortunate that the computer related parts that have gone south have been ones that have not been too costly. This is probably the most expensive one, but it is still not that much. It could also be that there was just a conflict and the router is fine. This will be something that I will not be able to find out until another time, and probably by then the darn thing will be so out dated it won’t even be worth it. The RJ45 cable will probably be extinct by then… gone by way of those large floppy disks.

On the brighter side, my new apartment layout has allowed me to set up the computer in the bedroom – it is actually big enough to hold all of my bedroom furniture and the dining table, where I have the computer set up. It might sound weird (having the dining table in the bedroom) but that is my computer table as well as my grandmother’s dining table that I am not ok parting with. It is very much older than me and has years of damage from my sister and I (we got to do just about what ever we wanted at Gram’s and the furniture suffered). There is a dresser at dad’s house that has our names carved in it. Funny what destructive things we did as kids are the same things that we want to hold on to now.

The folks over at SBC sent me what appears to be a cool modem – firewall, wireless and router built right it. The guy that I talked to to get it set up said that I needed a switch for multiple computers, etc. I am thinking that I can use the router that I have. Well, I have been trying that and either it is not going to work (some router to router conflict) or there is something wrong with my router (if that is the case, that sucks). I am off to run some errands and also to wait and see if my connection drops again (it was dropping about every ten minutes with the connection going through my router).

up and running

I am not only now moved but up and running on dsl too. Woohoo! It took a bit to figure out (I have my router and the modem has it’s own router) but it looks like everything is working.

down for a bit

I am hurting all over but the move is done. The worst part is that my knees hurt from going up and down three flights of stairs while carrying various amounts of additional weight. They always get better when they get like this but this is the worst they have been and I still have alot to do this weekend and I just hope they are better by then.

I really like the new apartment but there are issues that I need to get looked into – a leak in the bathroom and the phone lines have alot of static. Going to try a regular phone and see if it might be the cordless that is the problem… but then again, when I call my number I get alot of static too. Who knows.

DSL is supposed to be working tomorrow. Yay! Everything is down until then, but I do have the computer set up in the bedroom now. This is a cool thing. Now if I can get the washer and dryer hooked up without disaster we will be on our way.
