trapped again

Ahhh…. another night at this crap hole apartment complex… trapped by the lack of parking… two cars outside without stickers… nobody getting stickered or towed.

From my convesation with Rhonda (at their regional office) this morning, one thing keeps coming back to me – her saying that everyone is pro-towing until they are towed. Funny… I have never parked where I am not supposed to, so I have never been towed. Running an apartment complex is not about making friends – it is a business, and as with any business (and life itself) people are going to break the rules and chances are they aren’t going to like the consequences. These people that live here signed the same papers that I did, and therefor should be considered informed of the rules and expected to abide by them (guests included).

She also stated that they are aware that there is an issue with parking here – that when the place is full there are problems. NOT IF YOU TOW PEOPLE! If I am dumb enough to park where I am not supposed to then maybe the $150 it takes to get my car out will make me think twice to pay more attention next time.

Movers are scheduled. I need to do some more packing.

  1. One thing I love about my condo complex is that we don’t put up with that. When my new neighbor moved in several of her friends parked in the wrong spots. My other neighbors parked them in – once.

The next day we explained that the association rules empower all homeowners to issue a tow order. As the homeowner, she is responsible for paying for her guest towing (the guard at the gate logs each license plate and unit they are visiting). If her guests don’t pay, then she will be charged a special assessment.

Sounds kind of hardass. But you know what – we never, ever have to actually tow anyone. Good luck at the new place.
